As the body ages, it becomes increasingly difficult to move with ease as muscle fibers tend to shorten and both tendons and ligaments
tend to harden.   

    •        Muscle fibers shorten from either a lack of use or the replacement of muscle fibers with fatty collagen resulting from heavy use such
            as weight lifting or many hours a day of repetitive movements such as sitting, bending, standing or walking.  

    •       Tendons and ligaments harden from a natural process that occurs when bone repair cells occasionally move on to a tendon or
           ligament and deposit calcium in an attempt to fix a crack or fissures.  Over time, these deposits turn the once soft and flexible tissue
           into hard stiff tissue that reduces flexibility and makes movement increasingly more difficult.    

Stretching helps you prevent the loss of mobility by eliminating fatty collagen muscle fibers and flexing your tendons and ligaments in ways that
break up calcium deposits and keep them from hardening.
