At age 10 “Sensei” began studying Karate at a Chuck Norris Karate school in
Granada Hills, California. Sensei paid for his lessons with the money he earned as a
newspaper boy and at age 13 earned his Jr. Black Belt.
At age 16, Sensei Bill began studying Shaolin Kung Fu under Grandmaster Douglas
Wong of Los Angeles and learned the forms and styles that make up the Northern
Shaolin system. Five Animals Style, (Tiger, Crane, Dragon, Leopard, Snake) Seven
Star System, Long Fist, White Lotus, Iron Palm, body conditioning, Chinese
Stretching, Massage, Chi Gung, meditation and more.

and was a member of “Sil lum (Shaolin) Demo Team” performing with staff, sticks,
swords, spear, knife, whip chain, three sectional staff, Kwan Do, butterfly knives,
double daggers, chop sticks, and common every day weapons. Sensei Bill still
continues to study weapons to this day and is a specialist on the history, construction
and use of traditional martial arts weapons.
In his twenties, Sensei Bill earned a black belt in full contact Kickboxing from Sensei
Benny “The Jet” Urquidez, Sensei Blinky Rodriguez, and Sensei Pete “Sugarfoot”
Cunningham at the world famous “Jet Center” in Van Nuys, California. Sensei Bill
was a member of the “JetAway" demo team and the weapons instructor at the Jet
Center until the school was close by the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
“Sensei Bill” studied and trained with many different types of “combatants” including
martial artists, amateur & professional fighters, ex-military, police, bail enforcement
officers, street fighters, sword fighters, stick fighters, tough guys, bad boys, bikers,
gang members and even former prison inmates. The goal was to learn from the
toughest people he could find and determine through practical application, what skills
and techniques actually work in the real world.
