| Ancient warriors considered the sword the king of all weapons and until the invention of hand held repeating firearms, it was considered an effective and reliable close combat weapon available. The Light Warrior Sword combat system combines the most effective techniques from Japanese Kendo, Kenjustu and Iaido, Chinese willow leaf saber, western fencing, and medieval broadsword, into a simple and easy to learn system that is guaranteed to make you a fast and effective sword fighter. Sensei Bill has taught this system to hundreds of students over the years and you will learn how train on your own or with a partner and become highly skilled in using a sword in combat.
Following are Light Warrior principles to keep in mind while training. 1) Martial arts is martial arts and fighting is fighting. Light Warrior Academy techniques are all about practical application with a focus on what would you do if you had to use your skills for real. 2) The way you train is the way you react. If you train with strength and focus you will react with sharp and effective techniques. If you train in a sloppy and undisciplined manner your skills may not be there to protect you when you need them. 3) You must practice your skills against a resisting opponent or you will not be ready for a real altercation. Every fighting art has value but, if you are going to use it for real, you must learn it and practice it however, you must also apply your skills against a resisting opponent so that you know if it really works or not. Fights are brutal, violent and ugly. If you are fighting with your hands and feet or a blunt weapon like a stick or staff, generally the worst thing that happens is you get hit and you experience pain. However, with edged weapons, your first mistake is your last mistake, so practice well. |
